About me

I’ve been stealing moments in time since I was 12 years old.   My motto: “If it moves, I’ll shoot it”.  The ability to capture the lives of individuals in a photojournalist style is my passion! I feel the best shots develop when people are caught unaware.  When you are my subject, I like to make my sessions carefree, fun and might be electric.  The concept of “boring” has never applied to me.

I particularly love to photograph weddings, families, pets and sporting events with lots of action. As a Mom and digital scrap artist, I also provide my clients with an extensive variety of enhancement options. My skills range from swapping body parts in photos to changing everyday pictures into oil paintings, watercolors, sketches, etc…

You only get one shot in life – take it!

Now, the other side of me………

Once upon a time there was a little girl who grew up in Nashville, TN, crying every time she saw an ambulance racing down the street - lights and sirens going full blast.  I’ve always worried about the safety of others which could be why I ultimately became part of the battle against crime.  However, as much as I love the concept, I cannot participate in traditional police work because I can’t touch a real gun and refuse to play hide and seek with small children for fear one will jump out at me.

Over 10 years ago I was an examiner in OCIE for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC fighting the good fight against brokerage firms that weren’t always squeaky clean.  For the record, I had NOTHING to do with Bernie Madoff.  In fact, my coworkers were exceptional, intelligent individuals – I’m just waiting to see who in upper management was ultimately paid off.

While at the Commission, I met my fairy tale husband who wisked me away on his tank to sunny Southern California.

Before his retirement in 2010, we did some moving around including a near miss on 9/11 when he was working at the Pentagon.  Our first daughter was only 3 weeks old.

For around 10 years I did Compliance work in brokerage firms fighting crime and I built Access databases just for fun.

In the last year I completed the Virginia Beach Citizen’s Police Academy and began blogging about the classes I attended.  The goal of my blog is to help everyday people  like myself get a better idea of how the real world works outside of tv shows like Law and Order and CSI.  When I’m not out shooting photos I hang out with the boys AND girls in blue at the Crime Prevention Unit doing volunteer work.

Shannon,
If you ever decide you would like to try to overcome your aversion to guns, I’d like to try to assist you with that. It was nice seeing you at the Military Challenge.

Later,
Larry

Loved this write up!!!
I didn’t know you had this relationship with weapons. Next time I go to the range, I’ll call you.
